Story
In September 2013 my nan was diagnosed with Stage 4b non-hogkins lymphoma which is a type of blood cancer, my nan spent 8 and a half months in hospital, suffering with this disease. Whilst in hospital she had six cycles of chemo, untold amount of bone marrows, was being fed through tubes, was on oxygen and her weight dropped dramatically from size 18 to size 10, my nan was bed bound for this time and could not walk or move herself up in bed. My nan was discharged from hospital in April 2014 and is now home, but has her own bed in the front room as she can not get up and down the stairs. In this month, the wonderful nurses and doctors at Northwick park hospital had some bad news for our family, we got told that there is no cure for my nan and that she is not going to get any better, they have not said how long she has left and they can't put a time on it. If you know my family then you can imagine that the last 6 years has been a struggle with losing my mum who was also a sister/daughter/nan and auntie and we recently lost another member of our family in February 2014, my great nan due to heart failure and catching infections. Losing another member is going to be just as devastating as losing any other family members, but my nan held us all together and helped us when she could. So that's why myself and my auntie Siobhan are organising a charity event hopefully this year sometime to help raise awareness for blood cancer and to help find a cure. So please donate anything you can, as it will go along way and it means so much to my family! Thank you <3
