Story

Hello, my name is Teri, and I’m the very proud grandmother of Stanley — a bright, cheeky, and determined 9-year-old boy who has already shown more courage than most people do in a lifetime.

When Stanley was born, he suffered a brain injury that resulted in Cerebral Palsy. Because of this, it’s unlikely he’ll ever walk. But that doesn’t stop him from dreaming big, laughing hard, and lighting up every room he enters.

We have been very fortunate with our fundraising goals to date, so far we have funded his SDR surgery at Alder Hey hospital, and in December 2025 we were able to provide him with his new all terrain wheelchair, giving his freedom to walk the woods with his dog and family which he just could not do before.

We now have a mammoth task ahead of us as his OT has now advised that his living accommodation just doesn't cut it anymore and he now needs a downstairs bedroom and wet room. We have been able to access the disabled facilities grant, which goes a long way to providing this for him, however, it is not the whole story, this still leaves the rest of the house inaccessible to him, especially as he gets older and uses bigger and bigger wheelchairs. So we have had to increase the target for Stanley to provide the extra space the whole family can use to live harmoniously together.

We’ll be taking on fundraising challenges and community events to help reach this goal — but we need your help.

I’m not someone who finds it easy to ask for help, but I would do anything to see Stanley gain the independence, confidence, and happiness he deserves. Every single donation, no matter the size, brings him one step closer to living a life we all aspire to, one where he can live side by side with his family and not be confined to a bedroom and wet room.

If you’re able to give, please know that your kindness will make a life-changing difference — not just for Stanley, but for everyone who loves him.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading, sharing, and supporting us on this journey.

With love and gratitude,

Teri (Stanley’s proud Gran)
