Aquasphere Chillswim Ullswater End to End 2022 · 16 July 2022
As an eight week old baby in the early 80’s I was placed for adoption with loving and caring parents. Not all adopted children are as lucky as me - many have to be placed with new families following traumatic or abusive beginnings that can lead to difficult challenges in future years.
I wish now to raise awareness and raise money for AdoptionUK, the national charity run by adopters to provide support and help to both adopters and adoptees.
Times are tough for many families but it’s especially challenging for those parenting children who have experienced neglect or abuse. Trauma experienced in their early lives has a lasting impact on their relationships, health and learning. That’s not fair! Adoption gives children a second chance of stability, permanence, and the love and nurture that all children need yet it’s not a simple quick fix. AdoptionUK won’t stop until every family has what they need to thrive, and each child has the best chance of a brighter future.
