Story

Fundraising Update:

Delighted to reach the £5,000 mark I am now looking to raise a further £1,000 with 2.5 weeks to go.  Thanks to everyone for their support so far.

Training Update:

Training going well. Battling through various aches/creaks/blisters but very much on track.

Completed a 42km run on 2nd April in 3hr 20mins. Time to taper down now. Looking forward to seeing what's possible on the big day.

Completed a 36km run on 25th June at a 4:40/km pace. I wanted to try out a marathon pace over a longer distance. Felt ok other than my feet which were very sore on the bottom. It was windy - it just isn't fair that the wind seems to be in your face 80% of the time no matter which direction you're running. Maybe try a little faster on the day if the weather's good.

Ran the Tunbridge Wells half marathon on 19th February in 1h:30:29s. Was exhausting but I was delighted with time.

Why am I doing this?

I am delighted to have been selected by Blood Cancer UK as part of their London Marathon team. Even better, my lovely company, Brit Insurance will match any money raised on a 2:1 basis

My Mother was diagnosed with myeloma in January 2022. It has not been an easy journey but she has undertaken an amazing recovery. While she will always be at risk of it recurring, she is now doing well.

The advances in the treatments for myeloma have come on remarkably over the last few years and the prospects for sufferers of myeloma is now very different.

I am keen to support the work carried out by Blood Cancer UK so they can continue to innovate and make further improvements, and support sufferers of all types of blood cancer and their families.

Blood Cancer UK fund research and support those affected. Since 1960, they've invested over £500 million in blood cancer research, transforming treatments and saving lives.
