In May 2021 I did the #5kMay with my daughter Heather raising money for the Neurosciences Foundation (NSF) - basically it was 'Couch to 5k' for me and it was a breeze!

As a Trustee (and Treasurer) of the NSF, when invited to take part, by the Deans Civil Engineering Limited Team, in the Glasgow Big Stroll Kiltwalk, I thought no problem I can make the step up from 5k - what I did not realise was it is 14 miles (not 14k).

Now locked in it was time to buy some new walking trainers and start my training.

The NSF give grants to early career doctors and scientists to explore new techniques and diagnostic treatments into neurological conditions such as epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, brain tumours, stroke and dementia.
