Story
On 19.03.2021 I will be attempting to exercise for a full 24 hours!
On this date last year, the UK was on the verge of its very first lockdown; consequently, I’d been made redundant from my main job, had just set up my own fitness business and was facing a future of incredible uncertainty. To maintain my health, happiness and sanity, I turned to exercise – aiming to burn a minimum of 1000 active calories every day.
I had no end goal in mind. I just knew I needed something to chase so that no matter how slow or bizarrely time past, at least it would be doing so somewhat productively, and I would reap the rewards of exercise both physically and mentally.
Little did I know how powerful that would prove to be.
Life is difficult at the best of times. We all have our own battles, demons and ‘situationships’ to juggle with in our everyday lives; many of which have only been intensified and burdened further by the seemingly never-ending and crippling nature of the lockdowns.
That was no different for me.
This year has brought some of my darkest days. I’ve been beaten, tested and pushed to my very limits and if it wasn’t for exercise and an amazingly close circle that I keep, I’d have struggled to make it through.
So firstly, to those who never left my side – thank you!
And secondly, to exercise – you saved me.
Today marks 346 days of being physically active - hitting a minimum 1000 active calories every single day!
I am by no means the finished article - and perhaps that's the point?
Life is a journey - there is no 'final destination'. It's about embracing life's lessons, no matter how cruel they may be and forever strive to grow; to strengthen and take control.
The benefits of exercise go vastly beyond the physicality. Arguably, the mental benefits that are to be drawn from exercise are far more powerful and the realisation of that is perhaps more pertinent than ever.
It is this message that I wish to disseminate further. I want people to understand that it really is okay to not be okay and that there is help available to get you through.
You… We…. Are never alone!
Exercise is a tremendous medicine and WILL aid your journey to building a stronger, happier and healthier you.
TRIB3 share this ethos and have kindly partnered with me to support this event.
Start: 18:00 on Friday 30th March LIVE on Instagram.
