Marathon des Sables 2008 · 20 August 2007

We end the needless suffering of animals. We influence decision makers to put animals on the global agenda. We help the world see how important animals are to all of us. We inspire people to change animals’ lives for the better. We move the world to protect animals.

Story

FINISHED.  131 out of 801.  13th Brit out of 250!!!  Shattered and feet a mess, but it's over...  Tough, very tough, but I gave it all, and loved it.  Some of it anyway.  Other bits were pure pain and stubborn determination.

.

It hit 47 degrees in the shade and my pack started at 15kg.  34 hours running.  Many sandstorms in open tents.  E-mail me for more details or photos.

.

“The Toughest Footrace on Earth”.  Simple.  Basically 6 marathons over 6 days across the Sahara Desert, carrying all food, clothes, medical kit, sleeping bag and some water.  154 miles - the longest MDS ever.  Oh good!  (Day 4 is 55 miles.  Hmmph)

.

(or Birmingham to London and then a full marathon.  Or once around the M25 and down to Brighton)  (in a desert at 100 - 120°F, carrying a 13kg pack)

.

I'm raising money for WSPA's "fighting for bears" campaign (this page) and Medecins sans Frontieres (please e-mail henryogrady@hotmail.com for my address and MSF details).

.

Thank you...
