Story

The Henry Straker Foundation

Henry Straker MBE was a valued trustee and supporter of Calvert Trust Kielder for over 20 years and cared deeply for the work of the Trust.  Diagnosed with MS as a young man, Henry worked tirelessly to support disabled people in Northumberland, receiving a Spirit of Enterprise award in 1996 and his MBE for services to charity, in 2006. The Foundation, in Henry’s memory, will offer bursary support to enable adults and children with disabilities to enjoy an activity break at Calvert Trust Kielder.

“We are delighted to remember and pay tribute to Henry for his passion and enthusiasm for Calvert Trust Kielder. Through The Henry Straker Foundation, we will continue his ambition to help those less fortunate.” Peter Cockerill, CEO.

With your support, we will establish a fund of £100,000.00 to ensure that financial restraints do not prevent an adult or child with a disability, from enjoying the benefits of outdoor adventure, readily available to the able bodied.
