Story
My poor mum suffered from mixed Dementia which affects 920,000 people in the UK. She was diagnosed some years ago, but was admitted for care last August 2020 during unprecedented times caused by COVID. The photo in this cover shows a beautiful lady smiling but underneath it all, was a confused woman who was desperate for us to take her home and could not understand why we could not go give her a kiss or hug. This cruel condition, not only affects the victim but ripples through all the family and friends. COVID made matters so much worse for all.
The care my mum received by all staff at Gwynfa Lodge, Ysbyty Gwynedd and Cefni Hopsital was amazing, to say the least. Often going beyond the call of duty and they showed immense humanity in caring for mum, whose condition progressed at an alarming rate until her passing in February 2021.
I have helped with various mountain challenges with a group of family and friends for some years but only in the capacity of driver, cook and comedian, but now, Big Kev is going to attempt to do the 3 Peaks challenge on July 22nd-25th, which would have been my late mother's 90th Birthday.
It was suitable & poignant that I raise money to help in the care of Dementia patients in Gwynedd and therefore 'Her Ber ' idea was conceived with Kev facing his fear of heights and keeping my fitness regime following last year's FitCymru 2020 exploits, but most important of all in memory of my wonderful, kind and beautiful mum.
Please donate towards this great cause. Diolch o galon.
