Story

Welcome to my fundraising page!

I will be running the 2024 London Marathon for the charity Cats Protection.

Cats Protection is the World’s largest feline welfare charity with over 250 branches across the UK. They care for, rehabilitate and re-home cats in need.

My Girlfriend is a veterinary nurse working at Rutland House in St Helens, a hospital that works closely with Cats Protection, providing the veterinary care and support needed to the St Helens centre and other local branches. She sees first hand the amazing work they do; from taking in abandoned kittens and getting them neutered, through to nurturing severely sick, injured or neglected cats back to health before finding them their ‘furever’ home. Catherine and I actually ended up adopting one of our cats, Isla, through Cats Protection, so they are a charity very close to our hearts!

Isla was brought into Rutland House as a stray kitten who had badly injured her lower jaw. She was a feisty little thing but Cats Protection St Helens offered her a place at their centre and paid for her much needed veterinary treatment. During her time in the Hospital she came out of her shell and completely won Catherine over, and we ended up taking her home! We have witnessed her grow into a little beauty, now in full health and so loved by us. If Cat’s Protection hadn’t stepped in to pay for her treatment, who knows what could have become of her. It doesn’t bear thinking about.

Cats Protection work tirelessly to help every cat they possibly can. Pet abandonment is currently at an all-time high, and the cost of living crisis means that more people than ever before are reaching out to rehoming shelters and charities because they simply cannot afford to properly care for their pets anymore. Cats Protection and similar animal charities need our help now more than ever. Their centre is almost always full, with a waiting list of cats needing their help. Any money you can spare will go further than you could ever realise.

Every penny that I raise running the marathon will go directly to the St Helens centre, which is amazing as I feel we owe so much to them for bringing Isla into our lives!

This will be my second marathon; I previously ran for Asthma & Lung UK in 2023 and raised over £3000. As I did last year, I will fight every step of the way to the finish line, no matter how hard it gets. I will not let you down .

Thank you so much for reading :)
