Story
Time to get fit, time to actually get up early to go running, it's time to eat properly, it's time to get down that gym - It's time to start all this tomorrow ... We've all said it right?
So one day, for a laugh, the four of us decided to enter a race, but no ordinary race. The mother of all obstacle races - THE SPARTAN RACE.
You see, if we set ourselves a date for an event that we paid to enter, we'd make sure we train and get in shape. So thus, the Herotics was formed. We can thank Jack Sheehan for our name, although we're not giving you the meaning here. Frankly it's embarrassing.
Personally, I (Sam) suffer with a chronic type of calf muscle problem, where running is pretty much the only thing that I CANT do or train through. Training will be tough, painful, it will push me and the team to the limits and allow us to go above and beyond what we thought possible. We're all capable of pushing harder than we know...
For info on the race, see here: http://uk.spartanrace.com/
It's a 5k (hahaha that's not far!!!) 15+ obstacle course race, but these not just hurdles, they are wet, electrified, high, cold, muddy, long, barbed wire, onfire, brick walls to get past... Just an easy 5k right..!
We're raising money whilst we do this, in support of Sue Ryder Care, who've guaranteed that funds will go straight to St Johns Hospice in Moggerhanger, in memory of Polly Chai.
They are a brilliant organisation and we want to make sure they can continue to do their good work long into the future. It's a service overlooked I think, and they really do a great job, but you only realise this once you either need it yourself, or someone you know does. I hope you all never know the work they do.
