Story
The Covid Pandemic and subsequent lockdown has seen a dramatic effect on the planet, showing in a relatively short space of time, the true impact we have upon it. At Herriots Hotel we had already taken steps to ensure that our business is as "green" as possible. New safety procedures as lockdown eases aid this process further but, during this time of reflection, we wanted to do something on a larger scale locally. The result will be the planting of 1000 trees in woodland on the outskirts of Thornton-in-Craven which surrounds footpaths that link nearby villages.
As a team we know personally the devastating impact that Covid has had on families that have lost loved ones, not just the heart-breaking loss, but the inability to say goodbye in a way they deserve. Taking inspiration from the "Grieving Together Campaign" we thought it would be a nice idea to offer the trees as a memorial to anyone who has lost someone to the virus, within a 10 mile radius of Skipton. A heart shaped memorial plaque will be placed by the tree with details of their family member.
Whilst there is no charge from ourselves for this, we thought if people wished to make a donation, in memory of their loved one, they could do so here.
2020 is Airedale Hospital's 50th Anniversary. This award winning hospital has provided a high level of service to our community over the past 50 years. Many of their celebrations have had to be cancelled due to Covid 19, therefore we thought this would be the perfect way to say thank you for all their hard work and dedication during this difficult time.
