I am cycling across Vietnam in the Hestia Cycle Challenge to raise money for children who are homeless due to domestic abuse.

The issue

Every year almost 1 million children are affected by domestic abuse across the UK either by witnessing abuse between parents or falling victim themselves. This is extremely traumatic and can have a lasting impact throughout their lives. Please help us to be there and support them when they most need it. 

How Hestia Helps

Each year, Hestia provides a safe home for more than 600 children who would otherwise face homelessness or would be forced to remain in an abusive and dangerous situation. Many have escaped at a moments notice and arrive to us with nothing but the clothes on their backs.

When families arrive, our dedicated children and family workers provide practical and emotional support tailored specifically for the children who arrive with their mums. The children are supported in many different ways, including:

• Play sessions
• Holiday activities
• Welcome packs
• Returning to school
• Accessing professional support

In 2017/18 we still need to raise another £33,000 for us to continue our vital work.

The Hestia Cycle Challenge 

Some days we will be cycling up to 200km across Vietnam, ranging from grueling uphill peddling across mountainous terrain to navigating the wet ground of the Mekong Delta. 

The route will be difficult and much further than my daily 20 minute cycle across London to work. Lots of training to be done! 

I will be joined by 10 - 12 other cyclists - all of whom hope to raise a minimum of £2,000 each. This money will be shared between Hestia and an orphanage in Vietnam. Each cyclist will personally pay for the cost of their trip.

With your help I aim to raise £5,000 from this cycle to continue supporting children living in our refuges. Your donation will help us to ensure we have dedicated Children and Families Workers providing these young people the life they deserve, free from fear and abuse.
