Highland Hockey Club Pledge · 9 May 2020

Mikeysline is a mental health charity covering the Highlands, Islands and Moray, supporting those in emotional distress. Born in 2015 after the tragic loss of two close friends, the charity strives to support all ages and genders dealing with crisis through text, online and face-to-face.

Story

To keep our Highland Hockey family together during lockdown, we are running, walking and cycling the distance between our home ground at the Bught Park Pitches, and our furthest flung players.

From the pitches in Inverness, to the Yeudall's in Inver, to the Douglas dynasty in Kincraig, and Elaine Cameron in Invergarry is a whopping 344km, or 214 miles.

Players can walk, run or cycle as far as they can on Saturday 9th May, and have fun whilst donating to our chosen local cause, Mikeysline. Read more about them below.

At Mikeysline, our ultimate aim is suicide prevention. We were established in 2015 following the suicides of two close friends within days of each other, Mikey Williamson and Martin Shaw, both aged 23. Our textline service was set up to provide an anonymous, safe, confidential way to access peer support, a listening ear from someone who understands what that person may be feeling, having their ow live experience of mental health issues. We also operate a drop in centre, The Hive, on Academy Street in Inverness.
