Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

On 30th of September 2023 some of the Fullwoodhead Dairy Supplies team will be joining colleague Justin Birch to climb Goatfell, Arran.

Ayr shop manager Alison Johnstone came up with the idea to set the challenge of climbing Goatfell to help raise funds for a K2 Off Road Wheelchair for Justin’s six-year old foster daughter Harlie.

Harlie loves the outdoors but due to a very rare genetic condition she is unable to walk, Justin strongly believes she shouldn’t miss out on exploring her favourite places like the forests, beaches and wind farms.

The K2 is a lightweight wheelchair with a carbon fibre seat, harness and mountain bike wheels, unfortunately this isn’t available through the NHS and costs over £10,000.

* Edit *
After our ferry being cancelled on Friday evening, the team rearranged plans to climb 'The Cobbler' (Ben Arthur), 884m - a similar height to Goatfell.
It was quite a challenge, but the team were determined to reach the summit - although there was no reward of any views, the biggest reward was having Harlie waiting in the car park to meet us as we finished.

Every penny counts and will be greatly appreciated in the fundraising efforts for Harlie's off road wheelchair.
