The Three Peaks Challenge · 26 May 2019

Prostate Cancer UK has a simple ambition - to stop men dying from prostate cancer. Through shifting the science over the next 10 years to focus on radical improvements in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and support, we will stop prostate cancer being a killer.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

As a team we are taking on the Three Peaks Challenge. For those of you who are not familiar with this we are aiming to climb Ben Nevis, ScafellPike and Snowdon in 24 hours.... this is a tough ask even for experienced walkers and most of us are novices!  For those who are familiar with the challenge - yes we are a bit mad.

We are taking part in this challenge to raise as much money and awareness as possible for Prostate Cancer UK.

Why are we doing this - very good question.

In February 2018 a group of us attended a charity ball which was arranged by Sam, a colleague of Rachel's, who is funded by Prostate Cancer UK. This was her opportunity to raise funds and awareness.  It was a brilliant event and a great time was had by all.  Sam had left 'signs and symptoms' cards of prostate cancer on each of the tables, which enabled all the gents in attendance to have a quick read.  Anyway it turns out that, as a result, our lovely friend and colleague in the group went and got himself checked out.  He has since been diagnosed with prostate cancer and is currently receiving treatment.

So we want to support our friend on his journey and also thank Sam for what she did. We think the best way to do this is to raise much needed funds for Prostate Cancer UK so they can put this towards research or even another nurse like Sam and hopefully more people will get diagnosed early and survive their cancer.

Thanks for taking the time to read and donate and we will keep you posted of our training and the actual event.
