Hike for Hazel
Six good friends walked the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to fundraise for the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity, who support people in Cambridgeshire living with a life-limiting illness and to those who need end-of-life care.
In memory of Hazel Sewell, Roger Hines and Jean MackenderOur challenge on 17 May 2019, was to walk the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough) 24 miles of non-stop hiking, which we completed in 9 hours 45 minutes.
We are raising money as a thank you to the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity in Cambridge, for the incredible care given to Hazel Sewell (Neil & Steve's mother-in-law) last year, Allistair's father-in-law, Roger Hines, in 2015 and Karl's mother, Jean Mackender, back in 1993. Hazel, Roger and Jean were diagnosed with terminal cancer, but being able to receive care from the Hospice made a huge difference to everyone, as they looked after both patients and families and created a loving and calm environment. We've all experienced the wonderful care and support they provide for families across Cambridgeshire and the surrounding area. We couldn’t have gone through such a difficult time without their help.

The charity has to secure £8.1 million every year in order to deliver their services free of charge, only half of which comes from statutory sources with the remainder raised by the local community. We hope that by helping to raise this money we can help enable others to receive the same care that both Hazel, Roger and their families received.
