Event: Brecon Beacons Night Hike 2019, on 22 March 2019
In memory of Tom Walker
Join the Cancer Research Wales team as we take on the Brecon Beacons at nightfall, fighting for a Wales without cancer.

Story

Debbie, Tim, Holly and Emily are all going to hike up Pen y fan in the dark on Friday 22 March, a year on from when Tom and Tim did the same hike. Unfortunately, unknown to all of us Tom was probably in the first stages of leukaemia when he did the walk. He started becoming ill at the end of May 2018 and was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia on 13 June. Unfortunately Tom died on 14 June after failing to recover from the surgery required to start his treatment.

In order to build a lasting legacy for our kind, caring and gentle son we are raising money for Cancer Research Wales to fund research into leukaemia. So far, with our family, friends and local community we have raised over £50,000 for the fund and are aiming for £100,000.

Please do consider sponsoring us or any of the other people taking part in the hike. Or, consider taking part in the hike yourself - we'd love to see you there.
