Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. My husband Dean was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour in February 2017, he underwent very harsh treatment that included brain surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy.

Dean was always a fiercely independent, very honest and hardworking man; therefore he was devastated when he had to give up work and his driving licence after his surgery. He was determined to try and beat this terrible cancer; but sadly passed away in May 2018, aged 48.

This year I am taking on several challenges in his memory and to raise money for BTRS; a charity that helped out and supported us through support groups, meet ups, socials and made us feel less alone through this journey. The first is The London Marathon in April, 26.2 miles. The second is a Triathlon in Leeds in June, where I will swim 1500m followed by a 40km bike ride and finally a 10km run. Lastly I am running The Great North Run in Newcastle in September. These events will be a huge mental and physical challenge; but with the support of my daughter Melissa and my loving friends and family, I am determined to complete them and raise much needed funds for such a helpful local charity.

Brain Tumour Research and Support are aiming to carry out much needed research for a cure, as current survival times for this type of tumour is sadly only 6-18 months. Brain cancers remain one of the most underfunded cancer specialities in the world. This charity also provide much needed support for those living with a brain tumour and their families .

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

Thank you and see you at the finish line!
