Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. First, a little background about how I arrived at this challenge...

A few weeks ago I was lying awake in the middle of the night, thinking that it will soon be a year since I was taken into hospital. I really want to mark this anniversary in a positive way as I have so much to thank the NHS for.

In early June 2019, I was 31 weeks pregnant and rushed to hospital in an ambulance having lost over 2.5l of blood. I was given 3 units of blood and the amazing doctors and nurses managed to stabilize me, allowing Lillia to stay safe. I stayed in hospital for a further 4 weeks before Lillia was born and 10 days following her birth, when she was in special care. Throughout this time, we received superb treatment and care, both at ESH and Brighton Hospital. Lillia's middle name is Ellen, after the most amazing midwife who supported us through the scariest days.

I feel incredibly lucky that the ending was a happy one and that almost a year on, I have the most adorable, happy daughter who is loved by her older brother and sister.  I want to mark this anniversary with a positive event, which is what led me to this challenge. It is also such an important time to celebrate our amazing NHS as they battle against Covid19. So it feels like there are double the reasons to do this!

Having mentioned it to a few friends, other lovely ladies have offered to join me to run, walk, cycle or scoot some or all of the way. Amy, Annie,
Becky, Cassie, Charlie, Claire, Jo, Karen, Lesley, Lucy, Natalie, Natasha, Nicky,
Rachel, Sarah, Vanessa, Wendy and Zelie have all volunteered to join in with the
challenge
.
If our current situation continues, then we will all embark on this challenge virtually, in our daily exercise time. At the end, we will see how many kilometers we have clocked up, collectively!

I know for many, this is a time where jobs and incomes are uncertain and therefore understand if you do not feel able to contribute. However if you are able, I would be over the moon if we could raise some money, however much.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity. So it's the most efficient way to donate - saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
