Story
We're taking a deep breath and we're going to have a go a a triathlon in June in aid of Pause, the charity Jules works for.
We've done lots of things in the past - running, walking, selling cakes, hugging (low point for Jules, but she did it) - but this challenge feels like a biggie. A 750m open water swim followed by a 20km bike ride followed by a 5km run.
As is our usual pattern, Jules will commit to the training, slogging hard, finding it nigh on impossible and having periods of terrible bleakness and anxiety when she thinks she can't possibly do it. On the day, she'll struggle but will probably get there, slowly and painfully. Steve will keep promising to do a little bit of training beforehand, may even actually do a little bit of training beforehand, and then he'll breeze round. C'est la vie.
Pause is a brilliant charity doing difficult but important works to prevent the damaging consequences of thousands more children being taken into care each year. Our Practitioners work with those who have had more than on child removed from their care, creating a space for change, allowing women to focus on themselves, sometimes for the first time in their lives.Working intensively with the women, we help build their self-esteem, encourage reflection and support their aspirations around employment and education to enable them to build a more positive future for themselves.
We'd be enormously grateful for any support you can give us and if you fancy a nice day out in Oxfordshire on June 2nd, do come along and support us!
Thank you, Jules & Steve x
