Our Mission: To cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.

Story

Back in 2015, Ed and I ran the London Marathon for Crohn's & Colitis UK.  We were incredibly moved by the support that we received and through friends and family we were able to raise over £18,000 for Crohn's & Colitis UK.  As a family we have decided to brush the dust off our trainers to raise money for the Crohn's & Colitis on both sides of the Atlantic (Biden permitting!) over a number of events.  In particular, Ed will be attempting to run three Marathons over three consecutive weekends and Hennie will be running her first Marathon.

As many of you know, my wife Charlotte/our Mum has suffered with Crohn's disease since her early 20s.  Crohn's is an inflammatory bowel disease and at present there is no cure - the disease can only be treated with drugs and sometimes surgery.  Over the years Charlotte has had to have a number of operations.  She, like other sufferers of Crohn's, has to deal with disease, which affects her daily life.

The charities Crohn's & Colitis UK (https://www.crohnsandcolitis.org.uk) and Crohn's & Colitis Foundation in the US (https://www.crohnscolitisfoundation.org) provide incredible support to those who have the disease and both are dedicated to finding a cure.  The aim of these charities is to improve life for everyone affected by the disease.  The charities are really only known by the sufferers and their families and friends so we thought that we should do our bit to try to raise their profiles.

-  First up is Ed who will be running in the Berlin Marathon on Sunday 26th September.

-  The following weekend Ed will be running in the London Marathon on Sunday 3rd October.  Just to mix it up a bit, Ed and five other friends will be trying to beat the Guinness World Record as the fastest marathon in a six-person costume.  The current record is 5 hr 59 min 33 sec in a Thunderbirds costume.  Ed and his friends have opted for a Colin the Caterpillar costume which has been made by the Holderness family.  Colin has already been road tested and broke the Guinness World Record over a half marathon back in July.

-  Then, just in case the US borders are still closed by the time of the Chicago Marathon, Hennie and I have also entered to run in the London Marathon.  This will be Hennie's first Marathon and one that she has been training for at altitude in the French mountains!

-  Biden permitting, the following weekend, it is then Charlotte's turn who will be running in Chicago on the Saturday before the Chicago Marathon in a pre-marathon race.

-  Finally, again if we are allowed into the US, Hennie , Ed and I will be running the Chicago Marathon itself on Sunday 10th October.

We would be delighted if you are able to support these charities, in any way you can.

Many thanks.

Best wishes

Charlotte, Andrew, Hennie and Ed
