Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

Living with stroke is courageous and tough - the road to recovery is long and hard. Training for and running 26.2 miles - that’s easy in comparison.

Last summer my Grandmother bravely survived a stroke classed as 9 out of 10 in severity. I am running the Marathon for her, my Grandfather and the many people like them who live with the effects of stroke on a daily basis.

My chosen charity - the Stroke Association - has provided essential support to my Grandparents and family and I can't thank them enough. Fundraising helps the Stroke Association continue their work into 'Life after stroke' support and raising awareness of acting F.A.S.T.

The Stroke Association are also creating the first ever Life After Stroke Centre to deliver the best possible services, support and training. The Centre (to be based in Bromsgrove) will bring together stroke survivors and their families, professionals, volunteers and care workers to share experience and knowledge. I hope the money I raise will go directly to this £2.2 million appeal.

Please give what you can to this worthy cause and thanks for your support. Gift aid will be added as a bonus.
