Story
Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation's research and I'd be so grateful for your support.
Last November my father-in-law, Bob Bremner, died suddenly after suffering an aortic-dissection, leaving a very big hole in our lives.
Death from heart failure is something that has broken many hearts in our family over the years. I am keen to do what I can to help fund research, so other families don’t feel the loss and pain we have.
This year I have set myself the challenge to run my first marathon. Before my father-in-law died he joked that he would run a half marathon with me, so the idea is to run his half and mine.
I am running in memory of him, and my other family members who have died of heart related illnesses, particularly my grandma Audrey Draper, my grandpa Bob Draper - who was a guineapig for pioneering heart surgery at Glenfield Hospital, which is now used daily to provide people with replacement aortas, and my cousin's dad David Moseley.
To help me get ready for the Cologne Marathon, I will also be running:
*Oundle 10k (13th Jan - completed 1hr7mins)
*Milton Keynes 10k (17th Feb - completed in 1hr9mins)
*Desford 5 (31st March - completed in 52mins 09sec)
*Rutland Half (14th April - completed in 2hrs24mins12sec)
*Wimbledon Half (12th May - sadly had to defer as hurt my hamstring )
*Swithland 6 (2nd June - complete in 1hr 8mins 8 seconds)
*Prestwold Hall (23rd June - 1hr06mins35sec)
*Naseby Battlefield Half Marathon (4th August)- booked in place of Wimbledon :)
*Equinox (21st/22nd September)
*Great North Run (8th September)
I will be posting regular updates on my training and races - so check back regularly to find out how I am getting on :)
You can also see how my training is going by visiting, or connecting with me on Strava: www.strava.com/athletes/hollybremner
The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target.
Thank you for your support :)
