Story

My totally awesome friend, Holly Wells, has stepped up to the mark with literally weeks notice and agreed to run the London Marathon to raise money for a charity that is extremely close to my heart.  Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer (LFBC) was set up in 2000 by mum's friend when she was diagnosed and was undergoing treatment for breast cancer.  Unfortunately she passed away following a five year long fight with the disease.

They do a magnificent job in raising both awareness and funds which go directly to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham, and which benefits thousands of patients in the Midlands area.  I have pasted a link of a recent short video which explains the whys and hows;

Everything raised by the charity goes directly to the Queen Elizabeth Cancer Unit in the form of equipment. Through their first fundraising project they raised £5,000 to buy a cooling cap to prevent hair loss during treatment. Since then, fundraising has gone from strength to strength and has enabled them to purchase an Ultrasound scanner for £150,000.  They've now raised over a million pounds and provided state of the art technology that has enabled the hospital to become a centre of excellence, providing patients with a level of treatment far beyond the means of the NHS.

Their latest goal is to raise a further 1 million pounds in order to provide an urgently needed second mobile Mammogram Trailer.  Ten women every hour will be diagnosed with Breast Cancer in the UK. Whilst the disease cannot be prevented, catching it in the early stages greatly improves chances of beating it.

Thanks all for taking the time and donating to this – the charity does awesome work and Holly Wells is doing an awesome job training – we really do appreciate any donation you can make.
