After a few Christmas sherries a few of us from the Hertfordshire #ukrunchat crew decided to sign up to run 1000 miles a year. We're all runners but not all of us have attempted to undertake 1000 miles in one year!

Some of us are going to be fundraising for different charities and I have chosen to fundraise for Haven, a homeless shelter in Stevenage.

Stevenage Haven exists to provide shelter and support for single people experiencing homelessness in Stevenage and North Herts.  We encourage our clients, not just to get back on their feet, but to move on into secure and settled lives in the local community.

Key to how we work is helping in a sustainable way and thus break the often familiar cycle of homelessness. Through our dedicated team of staff, trustees and volunteers we operate two hostels, The Haven in Stevenage and The Sanctuary in Hitchin, and manage 11 move-on properties, transforming the lives of around 150 people every year.

I hope that my challenge can raise some money to help those who are in a challenging place in their lives.
