Story
This Autumn, I will be taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon and raising funds for St Johns Ambulance💚
Last year I trained and took part in the London Big Half Marathon, my first long running event!
600m from the finish line I collapsed. I have no memory of stopping, or about 4K before that, I also cant remember anything for about 2 hours afterwards.
The St Johns Ambulance team based by the finish looked after me to cool me down as I had hyperthermia with my temperature at 40C+.
When I became conscious I didn’t have any memory of running, where I was or what had happened, and didn’t recognise my Mum, who I was with.
After some treatment I was then taken in the Ambulance to Lewisham hospital where they treated me for Acute Renal Failure following a case of rhabdomyolysis.
I didn’t get a medal, or get to cross that finish line. Although I was very close, I still haven’t completed a half marathon! I am facing my fears, and running again in my first race back, to raise money for the team who saved my life.
Thank you for supporting me!
