Story
So as I am turning 30 next year I thought I should think more of others and do something for charity. So currently I am volunteering once a week at Great Ormond Street Hospital where my eyes have truly been opened to life and where my heart melts each and every week seeing the struggles children and their families face. It makes me look at my own family and my son and realise how truly lucky I am.
This experience has made me think of Lewis, who would have celebrated his 18th Birthday on 16th September 2014 with his older brother Lowl, sister Lucy, mum Jan and Dad Paul and loving family and friends.
Sadly, Lewis passed away before he reached 3 months old and I would never have the chance to meet him. From the stories I have been told I know he was a beautiful boy who would have grown up in such a loving family. It truly is an incomprehensible loss and proves that God only takes the best.
In memory of Lewis and the broken hearts he has left behind, I will be facing probably my biggest fear and strapping myself to a plane which will then fly me into the air and do stunts whilst I cry internally. I realise this will be to the amusement of anyone who wishes to watch therefore feel free to come along. It will be Saturday 25th June 2016 at Damys Hall aerodrome, Upminster. I feel it is a challenge for me and will hopefully encourage more people to step out of their comfort zone to do something worthwhile for a great cause.
All funds raised will go straight to CLIMB which is a charity that helped Jan, Paul, Lucy and Lowl through a very difficult time in their lives and who complete fantastic work in aid of Children Living with Inherited and Metabolic Diseases. Here is a bit more about the charity:
We are a national organisation working on behalf of children, young people, adults and families affected by metabolic disease. The National Information Centre for Metabolic Diseases is part of the Climb Group. Climb (Children Living with Inherited Metabolic Diseases) is the United Kingdom's foremost provider of free metabolic disease information to young people, adults, families, professionals and other interested groups. Our vision is to provide Metabolic Disease specific information, advice and support to children, young people, adults, families and professionals in the United Kingdom and to provide information and support to families worldwide, to fund educational and primary research programmes and to investigate treatments and medical services.
Expanded Newborn Screening rolled out across England
From today (05/01/15), all newborn babies across England will be routinely screened for four new conditions as part of the current heel-prick test given shortly after birth. The new conditions are Maple Syrup Disease, Glutaric Aciduria Type 1, Isovaleric Acidaemia and Homocystinuria. It is expected that approximately 30 cases will be detected each year which will enable the patient to receive life-saving treatment.
Wales has committed to begin screening on the 12th January 2015 for the 4 new conditions.
Climb is extremely proud to have been involved in this project
So please, please donate anything you may be able to spare and spread the word of this page so we can raise as much money for this charity as possible, whilst raising awareness of some of the metabolic diseases that children may encounter. Think of those little ones and their families who have to carry on living with a piece of their heart missing.
Any little helps and I will be truly grateful for anything anyone can donate. Below is a link to the location of the Wing-Walk and details of what it entails. Although I am reluctant to read too much into it as the thought petrifies me already so I will be pretending I'm not scared until then

Please remember to tick the 'Gift Aid' box if you pay tax as this will mean more money goes to the charity.
Thankyou all in advance for your support, from myself and on behalf of Lawrence too; who is too heavy to Wing-Walk (Dont' laugh) otherwise he would be writing this himself!
