Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Throughout the 40 days of Lent (Wednesday 9 March to Sunday 24 April) we encouraged members of Holy Cross Sarratt and St Paul's Chipperfield - and their friends and families - to set aside a coin a day in support of church projects in Rwanda.  This could be 50p, £1, £2 - but whatever the amount, it would give much needed help and encouragement to our brothers and sisters in one of the poorest countries in the world.

Over the past three years our two churches have helped train potential church leaders; provided sewing machines to enable young women to be self-supporting; funded a dispensary in Shaki, a remote part of the country; and helped to build a pastor's house in the very poor parish of Gishali.

It is our aim to continue to help the David Dale Shyogwe Trust fund such initiatives.  In particular to provide maternity facilities at the Shaki dispensary (estimated cost £6,000); purchase land in Gishali on which to grow crops and to build a new church (estimated cost £1,700); and to continue to support the work of the Bible and Development School.

It's amazing what together we can achieve:

100 people giving £1 per day for 40 days                 £4,000

100 people giving 50p per day for 40 days                £2,000

                                                                      TOTAL           £6,000

And with Gift Aid this amount will be increased further.
