Wishes 4 Kids was launched in 2002 with the object of granting a 'wish' for Leicestershire children of eighteen years and below who are life-limited, terminally ill, have suffered severe mental / physical / emotional trauma, those who have been abused and those diagnosed as HIV positive.

Story

Having supported Wishes 4 Kids for a number of years, and taking on many challenges to raise vital funds for this great cause, 2013 sees the arrival of our next challenge, 'Home 2 Rome'. During the month of August and September 2013 Richard and Ange will be cycling from Ashby De La Zouch, Leicestershire to Rome. The trip is estimated to take 3 weeks, travelling around 1,400 miles.

It will be just us, our trusty bikes and well packed panniers along the whole route with no additional support.

The route will initialy head to Portsmouth where we will get the overnight ferry to Caen. From Caen we will have over 150 miles to complete in two days, taking us to Pithiviers, a French town twinned with our home town of Ashby. Following a route to Annecy, we will start to prepare for the challenging ride across the Alps. We will be taking the Beaufort route and Petit St Bernards Pass which rises to 2188m and crosses into Italy, arriving in Aosta. Once in Italy we will travel south to Pisa, Siena and Bolsena, where we will then be on the home stretch where hopefully all roads lead to Rome.

This challenge is self funded, therefore every penny donated will go directly towards granting wishes for very sick children.
