Hope's Brave the shave

Brave the shave · 20 August 2022
My name is Hope and I’m 35 and next to me is Amelia who is 14. She has suffered with Alopecia Areata since she was 2, thankfully it grew back up until she hit hormones in year 5 of primary school and now has lost 95% of hair after having a hair system on.
I am going to brave the shave to hopefully raise money towards Alopecia uk to put towards funding for wigs of all ages. We hope to raise awareness so that anyone that suffers with Alopecia doesn’t have to shy away and gain the confidence that some sufferers don’t have.
I’m Amelia I’m 14 and I’ve got alopecia areata I did have a hair piece Wich was Connected to my hair which seemed to make my hair fall out more and was making me extremely stressed This may of caused more hair loss, then recently I was gifted a absolutely gorgeous wig from the princess trust and i went to Cambridge to get the wig from a awesome salon called scruffs and when I got the hair piece cut of I decided to shave my hair before alopecia could take it all ! To be honest alopecia is hard I’ve been bullied for having bald patches and have been called baldie by a few people and I have been Bullied most of my life because of my hair but now that i have shaved my head and got a beautiful wig I feel way more confident ! Don’t let your hair define YOU and be free it doesn’t matter if you have hair or no hair!
This will take place at on Saturday August 20th at THE SEVEN WIVES pub in st Ives Huntingdon at 2pm where you can also come to watch and donate in cash. The highest donor will have the opportunity to take the first snip, then the shave will be taken over by Amelia herself
So go ahead, press the button and donate what you can. Every little helps!
Thankfully she has been awarded a beautiful real hair wig from the princess trust but also she’s embracing the bald look now too when she feels more confident.
