Pancreatic Cancer Action is the only UK charity dedicated to saving lives through early diagnosis. Pancreatic cancer is the 5th biggest cancer killer and the 10th most common cancer in the UK. Your support means we can continue to raise awareness of the symptoms to ensure early diagnosis.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In January I will be undertaking the challenge of running a half marathon, full marathon and then a 64km ultramarathon, on consecutive weekends, all in the far from ideal distance running conditions of Vietnam and Cambodia.

Recently a very good friend from school and Maidenhead Rugby Club, Robbo, lost his brave battle with pancreatic cancer. A few years ago my Uncle Ian also sadly passed due to this particularly aggressive form of cancer. In memory of them both I will be running to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Action, a charity whose focus is on improving the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer and improving the quality of life for those affected by pancreatic cancer.

While this will not be my first marathon, the ultra and the total distance, not to mention the climate, will be a huge ask for an ageing rugby player whose body fat percentage is closer to that of a walrus than a Kenyan marathon runner. I am just aiming to finish and in doing so hope to raise a few quid for the charity. I hope that you will recognise the challenge ahead and be generous enough to support me in this.

Many thanks in advance.
