Horticap is based in Harrogate where suitably qualified staff and a team of volunteers provide adults with learning and other disabilities training in horticulture, allied crafts and rural skills. Our garden, wildlife area and shop are open to the public every day from 10am until 4pm.

Story

In 2019, I completed the Nidderdale Walk and, in the process, raised over £750 for a charity close to my heart, Horticap.

Horticap is based in Harrogate and provides horticultural training for adults with learning and other disabilities.  Their aims are to: provide students with a supportive and friendly working environment both on-site, and off-site when undertaking commercial garden maintenance in the local community; develop students´ social and communication abilities; and, help students extend their knowledge and skills.

As with all charities, the pandemic has had a huge impact on Horticap and its fundraising.  Although the shop and plant nursery have remained open their students are still only allowed limited access to their work at the charity.  We want to make sure that Horticap is in the best possible position to welcome its students back in full when the pandemic subsides, so, my son and I are going to complete the 26 mile route again this year and we would both really appreciate it if you would support us by sponsoring us in raising funds for Horticap.

Thanks for taking the time to read our justgiving page.
