Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Last year I walked from Tulse Hill to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Shooters Hill (9+ miles) to raise money for Queen Elizabeth hospital where I was cared for. This year I will be running 13 miles!!!

On Saturday 4th September 2021 I will be raising money towards the Great Hospital Hike campaign by running the Richmond Half-Marathon in support of King's College Hospital Charity.

It is approaching two years since I was diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. From being turned away many times to collapsing in A&E and being resuscitated! I can think jovially about it now, but truthfully it was a frightening time and the reassurance of the nurses, doctors, porters, consultants, care staff and more, made such a difference to my recovery. I am grateful that my story has reached platforms such as the BBC, Channel 4 and ITV!

Specialists at Kings College Hospital were called to look after my eyes as my vision reduced to 30%, as a result of the syndrome. I had to have injections, steroid eye drops every hour, you name it! I am grateful for their care and for the fact that I can see clearly now without pain.

I am raising money for this hospital as a way of giving thanks to them for being part of the reason why my quality of life was not significantly reduced as a result of SJS. Two years down the line and I am able to see my 28th Birthday by the Grace of God and even sign up for a whole HALF MARATHON in a body that was once resuscitated. Trust me, they need and deserve every pound and penny so please give what you can.

I give God all the glory for keeping me for such a time as this. I thank God for the incredible medical practitioners who looked after me during my time in hospital and continue to do so as I make the journey to full recovery.
