Everest on the stairs 2020 · 1 May 2020

Behind their smiles and slick service hospitality workers can fall upon hard times just like anybody else. Ours is a stressful industry, with long hours, high pressure environments and physically demanding work. We are here to offer financial, physical and psychological support to those who need it.

Story

During these strange Covid-19 times, all industries are being seriously affected.  The hospitality industry is no different.

Hospitality Action provides support to chefs, waiters, housekeepers, managers, concierges, receptionists, kitchen porters, sommeliers, bartenders, catering assistants and cooks across the UK.  £250 helps a hospitality worker keep a roof above their head and food on the table while they wait for government help.

The heroes behind the heroes.

I want to help.

Having previously climbed Gran Paradiso, Mont Blanc, Mount Kinabalu and both rowed and swum across The English Channel, I thought I would 'do the big one'.  Lockdown prevents this, so the only logical thing to do is to don my crampons, my goggles and climb to the summit of Everest on my stairs at home.

I will need to go up and down my staircase 2,020 times to equal the 8,848m height of Everest.  So 2,020, in 2020 to raise £2,020!

Ice packs (frozen peas) are ready in the freezer...!  Please donate.

Thank you.
