New kitchen for forced relocation · 3 July 2017

SHOC aims to tackle homelessness and social exclusion within a safe and friendly environment. A one-stop shop, SHOC provide crisis care of food and clothing, help to find accommodation and skills training. The aim is to enable guests to regain self-esteem and reintegrate into society through work.

Story

Hi Guys,

SHOC are having to move from their home of 20 years as Slough Council have requested their building back. They have found a new place to call home but it has inadequate facilities to feed 50+ people a day and has no showers so people can wash themselves - something I certainly take for granted.

I will be attempting to do everything I can to fit a new kitchen, 2 showers, 2 toilets and as much other work as humanly possible to aid people who desperately need it. Luckily a few companies have offered help so far also, but we still need more:

BenchMarx, High Wycombe will be giving the kitchen for free (benchmarxkitchens.co.uk)

Grant and Stone will provide all building, plumbing and bathroom materials at cost (grantandstone.co.uk)

Jack of Glass, High Wycombe have offered cost price items - windows and splashbacks (jackofglass.co.uk)

My company Howard Smith Premium Builders will be providing all electrical work free as well as a portion of the building (howardsmithbuilders.co.uk)

We urgently need donations (or skilled labour) to assist us and give SHOC the ability to carry on helping people who's lives do depend on it, especially come winter...

Kind regards

Howard Smith
