ERA Week Sponsored Walk 2021 · 18 June 2021

From a very young age Issy has managed to find silver linings where most only see clouds. Since diagnosis with Philadelphia Chromosome Positive Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), Issy has continued to find silver linings wherever she can.

Story

The Walk

On Friday 18th June, during ERA week all of our students will participate in a sponsored walk to Raise money for Issy's Silver Linings, a charity supported by Royal Marsden raising money for cancer research projects. The walk itself will be 10 kilometres long and the students will walk as form groups along a route mostly consisting of the Horsham river walk, along with other local footpaths. Please donate anything you can to this fantastic cause using the link below

About Issy's Silver Linings

In June 2019, just 10 weeks before her 12th birthday, Issy was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL), a blood cancer which affects around 440 children in the UK each year. Our world fell apart. Nine days later, just as we were beginning to recover from the shock, Issy's consultant broke the news that Philadelphia Chromosome Positive had also been detected. PH+ALL is a rare leukaemia subtype that affects around 3-4% of children with ALL. Since diagnosis Issy and mum, Annie, have spent almost 50% of their time in NHS hospitals including St Georges Tooting, East Surrey and, their second home, the Royal Marsden in Sutton. The care Issy and her family have received has been outstanding. Nurses, doctors, healthcare assistants, cleaning and kitchen crews, play therapists, charity workers, physio, massage, psychotherapists, everyone has done their utmost to make Issy's treatment and her whole family's journey as comfortable as possible. Now we want to give something back.
