HTA established Beyond Boundaries in 2015. We collaborate with local charities to work with young people in urban areas, initially in Tottenham, to improve life opportunities through design based activities. Initial projects focussed on designing, making and training .

Whilst we all read the headlines and news reports, growing up in our city is pretty tough for our young people and the consequences on health, safety and opportunity profoundly impacts kids as well as their families and communities where they live. Young people in disadvantaged areas are disproportionately affected by the myriad issues faced.

HTA’s Landscape team will be working with the Fight for Peace, http://fightforpeace.net/ , a respected youth group in Newham, to design a garden at their centre in North Woolwich as a calm place of reflection and peace for their members to enjoy.

The programme will include visits, educational workshops and will aim to lead to future training opportunities. The garden will launch in May 2020.

The rise in the challenges facing many kids over the past 5 years coincides with dramatic cuts in government funding. With this next programme we are looking to raise £12k to work with Fight for Peace to deliver the garden project. We are also continuing our work in Tottenham and should we exceed our target, these will be used to fund a future project with Haringey Play Association http://www.haringey-play.org.uk/ with whom Beyond Boundaries originated.
