Pretty much everything we own tends to come by sea and yet we have no idea of the incredible hardships faced by those tasked with moving goods to our shores. 

From the lonliness felt by being thousands of kilometres from loved ones with no internet connection to often dire treatment dished out by unscrupulous shipowners seafarers have one of the world’s toughest careers, evidenced by the fact that suicide is the top cause of death among the 1.5 million seafarers serving onboard commercial ships around the globe.

The Sailors' Society is the leading charity helping make the everyday life of these unsung heroes and their families more bearable.
