In September our team, the "Huffers & Puffers" will join forty fellow cyclists for a three day 500km cycle ride through the mountains of central Vietnam - a major test of endurance for us all and with a brutal climb on day one, sure to result in much huffing and puffing!

We are taking part to raise money for Newborns Vietnam, which does great work to help improve the survival chances of pre term and sick newborns.

One way they do this is through developing the knowledge and skills of nurses in partnership with specialists from the UK. The charity also provides vital medical equipment.

I have seen first hand the many changes that have been achieved at the Danang Hospital for Women & Children and the reduction in mortality. This great training initiative is being extended to more hospitals across Vietnam.

Newborns Vietnam carries out research to evaluate its work and an evidence base is being built looking at tangible infant outcomes in order to inform future work and a national training program in Vietnam.

We are inspired to cycle for an initiative that is giving thousands of newborn infants a chance to survive.
