Trek Nepal 2014 · 1 March 2014 to 11 March 2014 ·

Leeds Cancer Centre, part of the Leeds Cares family, diagnoses and treats cancer for the people of Leeds and the Yorkshire region. It is one of the largest cancer centres in the UK and provide some of the most up-to-date treatment, care and support for people with cancer.

Story

I am attempting to raise £3000 for Yorkshire Cancer Centre - so thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and thank you for your generosity in supporting this great cause.

When I question why I have signed up to spending 5 days trekking 60km up and down the highest mountain range in the world, I just stop and think of how the YCC has helped my wife Annie and so many other cancer patients and it is easy to convince myself that my blisters and aching limbs will all be worth it.

It was in April 2008 that we left the Consultant's surgery having been given the devastating news that Annie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer - not knowing what the coming days and months had in store for us. But Annie is a fighter and following a year of surgery, chemo and radiotherapy and with the constant care and support of the doctors and nurses of the oncology units of Yorkshire, five years on Annie is back to full health.

It is now time for me to do something to thank the YCC for all they have done to support Annie and the other 2000 patients that are treated at the cancer centre in Jimmy's everyday.

And so to Nepal...

Just to reassure you, I am covering all the transport costs of the trek itself -  so all your sponsorship will be going directly to the charity to fund the support the YCC provides for the prevention, diagnosis, and aftercare of this cruel and indiscriminate disease that still effects one in three lives in the UK

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Thank you once again and wish me luck!
