Memory ... it brings us images, sounds, smells, associations to past events, to special moments, special people, to all we love in life. Alzheimer's robs us of this as it robs us of our loved ones. My dear father and aunts suffered with Alzheimer's. I'm now raising money for Alzheimer's Association and i invite you to support us.
I shall be training and riding in 3 cycling events: the 100km Tour de Yorkshire on April 30th 2017, the Chiltern 100 mile on July 16th 2017, and the Prudential 100 mile on July 30th. I shall be riding in memory of my aunt who died last year and riding for all those both suffer (and will suffer) from Alzheimer's. The Alzheimer's Association does incredible work to help both carers and sufferers of Alzheimer's. Here's how your donation can help:
- £65 could pay for a person with dementia and their carer to attend one of our Dementia Cafés for six weeks, where they can learn more about dementia, talk to people with similar experiences and gain practical skills that can help them manage their condition in their daily life.
- £116 could pay for a carer of a person with dementia to attend peer support sessions for a month, where they can spend time sharing experiences of caring for a loved one and exchange practical advice with others.
- £525 could improve the well-being of 25 people with dementia, by paying for them to spend an hour with an experienced Dementia Support Worker. During this time, they will have the chance to develop their own coping strategies and increase confidence in managing their symptoms.
- £1,000 could pay for an experienced Dementia Support Worker to support a family affected by dementia for an hour a week for an entire year. By having regular contact time with a Dementia Support Worker, people with dementia often feel supported to stay in their home for longer.
So please support them and pledge what you can. And thank you for your support
