Story
I'm running the Edinburgh Marathon in memory of my dad, who died of brain cancer in 2016.
However, the impact of my dad's illness began a long time before that. The years between a first diagnosis of cancer and the final outcome are filled with physical, mental and financial challenges that we often overlook. These all have a profound impact on both those who suffer with cancer and their families and loved ones.
Cancer is an incredibly common disease that deeply impacts everybody who's touched by it. However, not everyone has the same access to critical support in dealing with this disease - and this is where Macmillan is such a unique and special cause. Macmillan provide cancer victims and their loved ones with essential emotional, physical and financial support during a period of immense trauma. Personally, I know that I would not be in the position I'm in today without the support of family, friends, teachers and colleagues over the last few years - and I'm extremely conscious that not everybody has access to that same support system.
Macmillan provide a truly worthwhile service to people who really need it - I would be very grateful if you would consider donating.
