Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2207 and 2010 generous donations from many friends raised £13,000 to secure the education of two children from rural backgrounds in Nepal up to adulthood, and helped set up a drop-in day centre for homeless Kathmandu kids.
In the aftermath of the two earthquakes in Nepal in May this
year, there has never been a greater need to build on the work of Future For
Nepal in providing disadvantaged children in Nepal with a good education and a
safe environment where all the needs of the child are provided for.
Whilst conditions on the mountains may have conspired against a successful summit this time, success has not eluded us. The team had some challenging and rewarding technical ice climbing between Camps 1 and 2; we achieved a night at Camp 3 at 6,750 metres before a huge new crevasse blocked further progress; we were entertained and supported by the camaraderie and banter of an international climbing group and we benefitted from some amazing mountain experiences. Most important, however, is the money which has been raised so far for Future For Nepal. Better still, will be the donations that are still to come! Mountaineering is fickle and uncertain. Assuage the disappointment that failing to summit has inevitably induced by helping me reach my target of £5,000.
