Story
When we initially decided to enter the Reykjavik Marathon 2022 with our friends Hussain and Shahnaz it started as a bucket list challenge - little did we know then it would turn into something much more personal!
A few months ago Graham (Louise's dad) was unfortunately diagnosed with Oesophageal cancer which has been life changing for us as a family. We have had to come to terms with what a new normal will look like for us and how difficult this will be for my dad.
However if he can face this with determination then we have no excuse - so we have decided to run in aid of the Oesophageal Patients Association (OPA) - a charity which helps patients and families both during and after diagnosis and in particular patients having a laryngectomy (voice box removed) and learning to speak and communicate again. We hope that we can raise both some money and awareness along the way and if we can get at least one person to check their symptoms then we have achieved something.
If you want to give us some of your hard earned pennies it would be very much appreciated to help us keep on running
Love Lou, Ian, Linda and Graham xx
P.S. If anyone wants to run part or any of our training runs with us please do let us know as the company is very much appreciated!!
