Story
Dear all,
Getting up at 5.30 am 5 times a week when it's dark and -6C oustide is not eveyone's idea of fun. for me this has been the past 4 months preparing to take part in this year's London Marathon in support of the Macmillan Cancer Support.
Cancer is not a single disease with a single type of treatment. There are more than 200 different kinds of cancer, each with its own name and treatment.
As treatments improve, more and more people are living with cancer in their daily lives. This means they need more than medical help, they also need practical, emotional and financial support.
Macmillan are a source of support, helping with all the things that people affected by cancer want and need. It's not only patients who live with cancer, they also help carers, families and communites. Macmillan guide people through the system, supporting them every step of the way, funding nurses and other specialist health care professionals and building cancer care centres.
To do this, they rely entirely on supporters for their income, with over half of this being raised at events such as the London Marathon.
One in three of us gets Cancer. Macmillan can help. Please donate what you can.
