Ronald McDonald House Charities are one of those charities that you think you've heard of but you don't really know what they do - until you need them.......

Most of us are lucky and will never need a Ronald McDonald House but they have made an incredible difference to two families close to us. When their little boys were diagnosed with life threatening illnesses and rushed to London hospitals it was the worst thing anyone could have gone through, but Ronald McDonald House offered them a home away from home. When a day or two turned into weeks and months of hospitalisation these houses contained everything they could possibly need - from food and toiletries to kitchens and laundry rooms, providing a sense of normality and the ability to stay as a family for as long as possible, all completely free. Without their help both of these families would have either faced being split up or endless commutes at a time when life could not have got any worse. The enormous difference the charity made to these families could never be repaid.......but we would like to try!

And so, a small group of us from local Hastings fitness club, HW Fitness have decided to take the leap and enter the Hastings Half Marathon. For most of us it is our first Half Marathon, in fact it's the first time we have ever attempted anything of this distance, but if by doing so we can help just one more family get the help they need at one of the worst times in their lives then every step we take on March 18th will be worth while.
