Story
Rumaysa (15) and Ali (11) will be cycling (approx. 10miles) around the Isle of Cumbrae on Saturday 29th May 2021 to raise money for essential services to alleviate the suffering caused by the current COVID crisis in India.
A new wave of COVID-19 is devastating lives across India. At the same time there is little to no healthcare provision for those requiring medical support, forcing people to undertake basic treatment at home. It's an apocalyptic picture with hospitals and morgues filled to capacity, people dying on pavements from scarcity of oxygen, and crematoriums and graveyards visibly overflowing with bodies. The sheer number of people suffering with the disease has crippled the country's health care system, even in its wealthiest mega-cities. It is estimated that 120 people an hour are dying due to the disease.
Your donations will purchase oxygen concentrators, new ambulances, continue to support a 24hr COVID consultation helpline and other supporting infrastructure in Hyderabad, India. We are contributing to the overall target set by MAAHIR of £50,000. Please note this fundraising is not suitable for Zakah donations).
Any donations are welcome, no matter how small.
