Story

The Salvation Army Church and Community Centre in Hythe and Romney Marsh is reaching out to the local community for its support, to help us support others, at Christmas 2020. Each Christmas we provide toys and gifts to local families in need, meals and company to those who would be on their own and food to those who are struggling to make ends meet. In addition, we seek to play an important part in the life of our community all year round through our foodbank, toddler groups, parenting courses, youth group and friendship group.

Our work, like the lives of so many around the world, has been impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic. There has been an increased demand for our services: between April-October this year, the demand on foodbank increased by almost 200% on the same period last year. At the same time, COVID restrictions have meant that we've had to change the way we work and our ability to raise income and fundraise has been severely curtailed through a loss of hall-hire income and the cancellation of many of our usual Christmas events: which raise a significant proportion of our local income. Any financial support offered this Christmastime will be put to good use in our local community.

If your monetary donation is specifically in place of a physical toy or food donation and you would like it to be used specifically for a toy or food, please do let us know in the comments!
