In-Community Care for Orphans (I-CCO) is a charity registered in Zambia and the UK which works with orphans in Lusaka, Zambia. These are mostly children who have become orphans as a result of the AIDS crisis and the aim of the charity is to educate and train them so as to give them and the communities in which they live the hope of a better future.

Story

I-CCO is a charity based in Zambia and the UK, that helps orphans with their education and vocational training needs (amongst others).  The UK branch was set up in 2000 and activities each year in support of this charity have been varied and successful.  Recent activities have included the purchase of a new pick up truck which is invaluable for the team's work on location.  The biggest project currently being undertaken is the building of a new office / school for the staff and children.

For more information on I-CCO please visit: http://www.i-cco.org.uk

In support of the charity a few brave souls have decided to do a tandem skydive and raise some much needed funds.  Here is a small introduction to each person taking part:

Kate Jefferyes – Kate has been involved in I-CCO since the late 1990’s and has been the UK Chair for the last 6 years. She enjoys taking her family out to visit those working on the ground in Zambia as often as possible and is looking forward to another trip in 2012. Kate has worked for the last 7 years as an Account Manager for Symantec, a global leader in providing IT security, storage and system managements solutions.

Mic Brough - I have been working as a mental health social worker for Hampshire County Council for the past two years.  I like water, being beside it, on it or in it and especially enjoy swimming in rivers and lakes.  I have always wanted to jump out of a plane but not taken the opportunity until now.

Mike Allen - I have recently become more involved in the work done for I-CCO, and look forward to supporting it further in the future.  I enjoy trekking around the New Forest, travelling in general and hope to visit the I-CCO team in Zambia some day.  I'm a huge SciFi fan (I admit!), and love rugby and cricket.  I currently work as a National Account Manager for UPS.

Tiff - I'm a junior doctor, working in Salisbury.  In my spare time I try not to fall from great heights when rock climbing, so jumping out of a plane should make a terrifying change from the norm.

Timeline for the skydive:

(Nov 10) Dear friends,

Earlier this summer, it came to me (Mike) that we should do something somewhat different as a sponsored event for this great charity, I-CCO. Such as... Jumping out of a fully functional aircraft at altitude! (In the immortal words of Mr T, "Crazy Fool!")

The date for this activity is not yet set in stone so we'll keep you posted. However please in the meantime donate generously as all proceeds will be going toward giving better quality of life to the children and families that I-CCO support in Lusaka, Zambia.

(Jan 11) Dear all, (Happy New Year!)

A little more is now known about where this will take place, and more importantly which totally wacked people will be (most likely) participating in this dangerous endeavour, (they shall remain anonymous for the moment however until I get a confirmation), no pressure guys!

(March 20)

Ok we have a date in mind!  The 14th of May is probably going to be the day we do this, so it's good to have a date pinned down.  The weather will also have slightly improved by then we hope so not so freezing at 12.000 feet, yay!  Next duty to confirm who is taking part and start raising money!!

----------------

The location will most likely be close to Bicester, and we will be jumping with 'UK Skydiving Adventures'. They are very supportive of this cause and will assist us with fundraising which is fantastic news. If you would like to look at the website, the address is:
